The day’s events coincide with Japan implementation of The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction on April 1, 2014. No provisions, however, have been made to directly address the 400 cases of U.S. children kidnapped to Japan since 1994.
The schedule of events on Monday, March 31 is as follows:
9:00 AM – Meet at 1667 K Street NW, Washington, DC. Parents will each receive their individual application(s) in a sealed envelope.
9:15 AM – Begin march from K Street, down 16th Street passing White House en route.
9:30 AM – Arrive US State Department, Office of Children’s Issues, 19th and G Street NW, Washington, DC. Deliver Article 21 Applications.
10:00 AM – March from Office of Children’s Issues to the State Department Headquarters, 2201 C St NW, Washington, DC
10:30 AM – Depart State Department Headquarters. Walk or drive to Japanese Embassy at 2520 Massachusetts Avenue Northwest, Washington, D.C.
11:30 AM – Arrive at the Japanese Embassy for rally and requested meeting with the Japanese Ambassador.
12:30 PM – Depart Japanese Embassy, head to Dupont Circle
1:00 PM – Lunch at Cafe Dupont at 1500 New Hampshire Ave, near Dupont Circle.
